Perforated/Punched Steel Roller Shutter Doors

Punched Steel Roller Shutter Doors are suitable to secure premises such as shop fronts, where full vision is required to provide passers-by to see shop displays. Used extensively in shopping malls and high street retail premises. Perforated roller shutter doors are very much in demand due to their very neat finish and appearance at shop fronts.

Roller Shutter Doors consist of steel interlocking slats, which form a continuous hinged curtain. This construction allows the curtain to roll up or down as it is raised or lowered onto a revolving spring-loaded barrel, which is mounted onto steel support end plate brackets. A bottom T-bar is fitted to the curtain to strengthen the curtain and allows for the fitment of handles and locking devices. .

Sizes Available:

This is the integral part of any Roller Shutter and is available in different styles, material thickness, designs and finishes.

Guides are formed from a steel channel section and are mounted on either side of the door opening forming a guide channel for the curtain to run in. Guides are generally made of mild steel and are available in different depths according to the requirements of the various sizes of Roller Shutter Doors.

The bottom of the curtain is reinforced with a double steel 40x40x5mm thick angle to form an inverted T-section, which interlocks into the curtain. ALUMINIUM T-BARS is available, which offers better finishing, stability, and increase load – bearing abilities. The bottom of the aluminium T-bar can accommodate a rubber strip, which is weather resistant, namely damp proof preventing water from seeping through under T-bar.

Nylon end locks are fitted on every alternate slat on either side of the Roller Shutter Curtain. The purposes of these are as follows:

Side plates are fabricated steel brackets, tailored to be fixed to either brickwork, concrete or steel columns, support the spring balanced shaft at each end. Side plates also provide the fixing points to support the canopy cover.

Consists of structural steel pipe of sufficient diameter and thickness to carry the load of the curtain. The shaft is the “Heart” of any Roller Shutter Door and allows the curtain to roll up neatly.

Canopies are constructed of 1.0mm or 1.2mm galvanized mild steel sheet formed to fit the contours of the end plates in a hex shape and flanged for rigidity.

Guide locks are a push in pin lock mechanism, pushed through the guide and curtain of the `roller shutter door and housed in a steel casting welded to the guide.

Centre locks are key operated locks situated in the center of the T-Bar with locking bards which slide horizontally into slots provided in the two channel guides.

Four alternative types of operation can be specified:

This type of door is suitable for relatively small openings. The weight of the curtain is counter-balanced by the self-coiling action of the spring-loaded barrel and the door is operated by use of the lifting handles fitted to the bottom T-Bar.

Push-Up Roller Shutter Doors are suitable for openings not exceeding 8.5 sqm or approximately 2.750m in width and 3.050m in height.

An endless chain through a spur reduction gear fitted to the spring-loaded barrel can operate larger doors of between 8 and 30 sqm mechanically.

A manually operated reduction gearbox can be installed in place of the endless chain. A bevel gear type cast iron gearbox operated by a crank handle is used on most applications. Larger doors may require double reduction gearboxes.

Electrical operation is recommended for large doors in frequent operation, although this type of operator can be specified for any size door. In the case of electrically operated doors, the supply would include the electrical motor, push button, and remotes.

Wicket gates can be fitted to most roller shutter doors and are used for personnel or emergency escape use. The standard dimensions are 635mm wide x 1830mm high and can be specified as inward or outward opening, and located on the left or right.

Roller Shutter doors can be fitted with grille sections situated at any desired position in the door to provide ventilation or a see through facility.
